Thursday Update

Well, Bess and I just came down from Dizzy's room. He has been hauled off to get an MRI. I don't think there is any major concern. They wanted to do it after he 'coded' a few weeks ago, just to check on his brain structure and activity. He should be getting back shortly, then he will be on the EEG for 24 hours to monitor wave activity. He did gain wieght, 3.59 total. So, that is all for now, we may find out about the MRI and EEG results tomorrow, we are praying for a normal result. Thanks so much for the comments, prayers and support. we will talk to you all later.

Anyone know a song with "Wednesday" in it?

Sorry we took so long to get video up, I'll do it right now. Andrew is still doing pretty well. He didn't gain any weight since yesterday, but he did maintain. He was pretty fussy yesterday, perhaps from the shots, so we though he burned up quite a few of his calories. He's been mostly sleeping today. Right now he is awake, quietly rocking with his daddy. Enjoy the video of them in their cooresponding tees from Michael. Cute!

Tuesday's so slow

Another good day. Andrew weighed 3.48 kg this morning, gaining exactly the targeted 20 gm / day - hurray! Yesterday afternoon he got his first shots, simultaneously even - the nurses didn't want to make him go through it twice so they double teamed him & gave him both at the exact same time. He got really red, cried about 2 times and fell right back to sleep. He also got his newborn hearing screening which was normal in both ears. It was really nice to have the day's agenda include healthy baby stuff like shots & therapy; it kinda confirmed that he really is doing well. Not much else to report at this time. Steve will definitely get some more video up today now that we have the cameras back.

Monday morning you sure look fine

Well, I know it isn't morning anymore & I'm sorry we are not as diligent with the updates these past few days. Actually, it's a good thing because Andrew is doing pretty well. Last night he got a good grip on his n-j (feeding) tube & pulled it out far enough to warrant a new one. The nurse put the new one in the other nostril so he is getting a break on the right side. He also got his central IV line out this morning & got a new peripheral IV line. What else? The PT & OT came by this morning to evaluate him & both seemed happy with how well he was doing. Actually, I got to play with him for a good 30-45 minutes before they came in so they got the sleepy version of his abilities. I sure had a good time wearing him out beforehand though. He also gained weight again, weighing in at 3.46 kg (about 7.6 lbs, I think) this morning. I think this would make him a lightweight in the UFC (they don't have a smaller weight class, do they?) By the way, thanks Matt for keeping us up to date with the UFC fights. We watched 80 yesterday, not as good as 79, but still thoroughly enjoyed.
Thank you all so much for the love & support. I know we say it a lot, but it really makes a big difference. Christy, I completely understand you comment a couple days ago about feeling bummed out but still singing rejoice in the Lord always in your head. I've experienced the same thing a lot lately. And I can honestly say I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart. Through everything the Lord has not only kept us going, but given us that peace that passes understanding. My mind is made up! - a child is a gift, no matter what the circumstance & I accept wholeheartedly!

Sunday update

Well we just got up here with Andrew & he is still looking good. He gained weight again - hurray! The nurse said surgery (for his stomach) will be maybe a week to 10 days, depending on his weight gain. This am he weighed 3.41 kg. They would like to see him put on 20 gm / day so he's off to a pretty good start these past few days. Also, the cultures they took on wednesday came back negative as well. So I guess we need weight gain / stregthening prayers at this time. Kalee I hope we can count on you, you did so well with the pee & poop prayers. I think all the kids may be able to help guide their parents by their beautifully simple prayers! We love all you guys, thanks for the prayers, thoughts, support, calls and visits. We had breakfast with some friends Sat. am. (hey Greg and Kathy, grand-slammm!!!), then my Aunts came by on their way out of town, (well, I think it was out of their way, but it was great to see them). And then we went back home to celebrate my other Aunts 50th B-day!, only to find that a bunch of Bess' family were at our house finishing up some work to suprise us, well, they got suprised. (Thanks for all the work you have done, Mariachi Machi , Landon Strip, Tommy-Two-Tones (he can whistle though), Corpus Christi, Arch-Nimishish, Becki and Micheal on the motorcycle, Little Micheal on a bicycle, and T-Spoon.) And then we finished off the night by visiting a bunch of friends from Bess' work and played Rock Band. By the way, tomorrow when I get the cameras back, I will have a couple of interesting videos to put up involving cotton, iron-ons, Dizzy, a band, and me. I think I may have some old videos from Friday I can at least put up for now.

Sorry- Saturday update first

Yes, it is Sunday, but yesterday we were so busy from 7am to 2am that we didn't have much time to put any post up. We did a lot of visiting and some running around. Andrew actually gained weight Fri-Sat. The nurse said Saturday morning that he reached his birthweight. he was looking really good and I had some time to play with him before we left town. I wish I could have got that on video.... So anyhow, I forgot the cameras back at my house. So I won't be able to get any video up until tomorrow. In about a half hour or so I will post how he is doing today, Sunday...

Vid

Friday Noonish

I am up here with Dizzy, he is sleeping soundly. Word is that he lost a little more weight last night, so they are going to be fortifying his feeds with more calories and Bess is going to be doing the same. Not much else is different, just kind of waiting for him to start packing on the grams. I think I will put some video on. Thanks for all the prayers and support, will talk to you all later...

Thursday Noon

We are up here in the room with Andrew, he is sleeping right now, so we're just watching. He lost a little weight last night, so we need him to turn that around and plump up. Thanks to all for the comments of encouragement and the prayers. Bess and I are a little bummed but not too much. I guess we knew that the Dr's all said it would be like this. So we are just continuing prayer and sticking together. I will hopefully get some photo and/or vids up a little later today
