18 week belly

Beautiful baby boy!

Yesterday, Steve & I went over to Winnie Palmer Maternal Fetal Medicine to get a look at our baby.  We're excited that Andrew will have a little brother.  We decided on the name Luke Thomas - Luke because it's the one name we both liked & Thomas after his Papa (Tagye).  His heart & other organs all looked good to the doctor - we praise God for the good report!  Luke was such a good boy for the whole ultrasound.  When we finally got a look at his profile, I said, 'it would make my day if he swallowed right now.'  I explained that I was a Speech Therapist to the sonographer & literally a second later the boy swallowed for me!  It was adorable & beautiful!  What a blessing this little 9 oz baby is already.

Minus One Tooth

Andrew lost a tooth today!

16 week baby belly

Can't believe our boy is big enough to have lost a tooth.  I was in shock last Saturday night when I discovered it was loose and was a little worried about how Andrew was going to handle the actual loosing process.  That will teach me to worry because Steve said it just fell out today when he was eating his cereal bar.

15 weeks

I got to hear the baby's heartbeat today at my OB appointment.  It was such a sweet sound!  December 26th we have an appointment with the specialists at Winnie Palmer Maternal Fetal Medicine.  I will be 18 weeks then, so we should be able to find out if we're having a girl or a boy.  All very exciting!  Thank you for those praying with us for the health of this child.

14 weeks

Surprise!

Andrew just wanted to tell everyone that he's going to be a BIG brother.  We are very excited!  Due date is May 29th.  It was fun to surprise everyone on Thanksgiving, but it was a little tricky these past few weeks hiding my belly.  For the first time I was really hoping that people would just think I was getting fat : )

Home again!

We are all happy to be home. Andrew is his happy self already & we're all ready for a good night's sleep (though Mommy & Daddy's chances aren't great with Dizzy in the middle). Also pictured is Andrew's new lion - we are still thinking of a name for him.

Waiting to go Home

Andrew has been in recovery since just before noon. They are keeping him asleep because he has to hold still to prevent more bleeding from the sites where they went in. He woke up about an hour into recovery & jerked his leg (& pulled out his breathing tube) which made his leg start bleeding again. So, we had to restart the 6 hour clock again - now hoping to be discharged at 7pm. I've just been back here with him for about 30 minutes now.
The cath went beautifully. They got a good look around and all his numbers looked good; his heart function is great. They didn't see anything to intervene on while they were in there. Basically, best case scenario for now. He's doing too well to consider surgery any time soon. He'll have to let us know when his body needs it.
We are so overwhelmed with thanksgiving for Andrew and how well he is doing. Glory to God for the miracle this boy is!

Heart Cath underway

Andrew went back to the cath lab around 9am. We are expecting it will be around 2 hours. He did so great this morning. Possible the most cheerful pre-op patient ever. The pic below is just a taste of our morning experience : ) We'll update again when we get updates from them.

Timing is Everything

Well, I realize we never updated with the new cardiac cath date.  Our next attempt will be November 2nd.  Andrew has been healthy since recovering from the ear infection AND hand, foot, mouth virus he had during the last scheduled cardiac cath (October 5th).  Now we are praying the good health continues through the next week & that the procedure goes beautifully.

They say patience is a virtue..

Well, we got up yesterday and headed to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Andrew's cardiac cath. All was well until we got to the waiting room & Andrew pulled on his ear a few times. In pre-op we asked them to check his ears & sure enough it was infected. This is the second time we had the cath scheduled & had to postpone it - weird because Andrew is almost never sick. Guess the Lord knew the timing wasn't right. Andrew is actually fine now. They upped his antibiotics, but really I think the Motrin kicked the inflammation & let his ear drain yesterday afternoon. Thank you to everyone who prayed for our boy! Even though we have to reschedule we are happy he is doing well. No matter what, we always appreciate when it's nothing serious.


We will try to schedule the next try for the week Andrew doesn't have Friday school. (caths are scheduled Fridays, the day his home school group meets for class) This boy is a sponge. He has chosen his review binder (above) to play with lately (even at 3am one day - he's lucky he's so cute : ). He especially loves doing the skip numbers, but is also learning some history, science, Latin, English & geography. It's adorable & surprising how much he recalls.


He is also learning site words & how to sound out words. Last night he read a bob book to me & it was, of course adorable : ) We will update again when we get a new date for the cardiac cath. Here's hoping third time's a charm.

Our good friends, TJ & Lily left for school today with their 2 girls.  We are going to miss them so much.  They are on their way to Missouri to New Tribes Missionary training school.  There is a link to their blog to the left under the 'friends' tab.
